India is the 67th to ratify the MLC, 2006

On 9 October 2015, the Government of India ratified two ILO Convention, both the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 and the Seafarers’ Identity Documents Convention India is the 31st ILO member State to ratify Convention No. 185 and the 67th to ratify the MLC 2006, According to the most recent data available, India has 12.544.247 tons of shipping and 62.673 seafarers. The conventions will enter into force for India on 9 April 2016 and 9 October 2016, respectively.

On 6 October 2015, the Government of Cabo Verde ratified the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) . The Republic of Cabo Verde is the 68th ILO member State to ratify the Convention, which seeks to ensure comprehensive worldwide protection of the rights of seafarers, at the same time establishing a level playing field for countries and shipowners committed to providing decent working and living conditions for seafarers, protecting them from unfair competition on the part of substandard ships.

The Republic of Cabo Verde has a merchant fleet of 44.465 gross tonnage of shipping. The Convention will enter into force for the Republic of Cabo Verde on 6 October 2016, that is, one year after its ratification.
